Career Seekers: OD
Zach Groves, OD
Dear Doctor:
I am a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry and am currently completing a Residency in Primary Care & Ocular Disease at the Bond-Wroten Eye Clinic.
During my residency, I have gained extensive clinical experience under the direct supervision and guidance of several well-respected optometrists and ophthalmologists, providing primary and emergency eye care to thousands of patients with a multitude of refractive errors and anterior & posterior segment pathology. My skills range from prescribing and fitting glasses and contact lenses (including scleral contact lenses), to perioperative care, to the therapeutic management of ocular diseases, to advanced procedures including chalazion incision & curettage, selective laser trabeculoplasty, and YAG laser peripheral iridotomy & posterior capsulotomy. In particular, I have a keen interest in the treatment and management of ocular disease. I have also had the opportunity to perform numerous other optometric procedures, including B-scan ophthalmic ultrasonography, minor injections and surgical procedures on the eye & adnexa, advanced interpretation of OCT and OCT-Angiography, and electrodiagnostic testing with interpretation (Visual Evoked Potential & Electroretinogram), among others. I have also ordered and interpreted neuroimaging & blood work on numerous patients and have provided patient consultations for numerous healthcare professionals in other fields. Aside from my ocular disease skills, I also am experienced in pediatric exams and am comfortable prescribing glasses, contact lenses for pediatric patients, along with treating various pediatric conditions such as myopia progression and keratoconus, among others. I believe I have much to offer, am eager to learn more, and am confident I can bring accelerated and sustained growth to the right practice.
Aside from the clinical aspect of my residency, I have also gained extensive experience in both coding & billing and practice management. Working closely with office managers and staff, I have learned daily office procedures, attended management meetings, participated in policymaking and implementation, and have been exposed to the business aspects of a busy, multi-location practice that utilizes the medical model for optometry. During this time, I have networked within the community, provided military flight physicals, and given guest lectures at the local university (Southeastern). I have also supervised optometric externs and presented posters at several continuing education meetings. You will find me to be reliable, well-rounded, and knowledgeable, with a pleasant bedside manner. I work well with others, pride myself on my work ethic, and enjoy seeing a significant patient load.
I seek a full-time position in Colorado starting in September/October, with potentially the option of future equity. If you have any opportunities, please contact me by phone at (360) 747-440, or by e-mail at zach_groves@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to discussing ways I can help grow your practice!
Sincerely,
Zach Groves, O.D.
